Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, has passed away at the age of 91.
He died peacefully on Sunday, just hours after the announcement of the death of the former Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari.

Oba Adetona ruled for over six decades and was one of the longest-serving traditional rulers in Africa. He was widely loved for his wisdom, strength, and deep connection to the people of Ijebuland.
Known for modernizing cultural traditions while staying rooted in history, the Awujale led his people with grace and courage. The popular Ojude Oba Festival grew stronger under his leadership, drawing visitors from across the world.

This is a double loss for the nation. Two remarkable men. One unforgettable day.
May his soul rest in peace.
