A Star-Studded Farewell to Queen Florence Okonkwo’s Beloved Mother

A multitude of Nigeria’s esteemed celebrities and prominent figures united in solidarity to honor the memory of Dame Margaret Adaoyibo Okonkwo (nee Dokai), the beloved mother of renowned international filmmaker and royalty, HRM Queen Florence Okonkwo.
Affectionately known as the Queen of the Red Carpet, Queen Florence journeyed from her London residence to meticulously orchestrate every detail of her mother’s farewell, ensuring a celebration befitting her remarkable life.
The commemoration began with a solemn Christian wake at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Festac on April 11th, followed by a Requiem mass on April 12th, both held in Lagos.
The culmination of the burial ceremonies on April 19th in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, saw a distinguished gathering of dignitaries and luminaries from various spheres of society paying their respects.
Among those present were the Parish Priests and congregants from Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac, Lagos, as well as members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) led by Chief Emeka Rollas (MON), President of Ohanaeze Women Worldwide, Hon. Chief Rita Daniels Chukwuji, Chief Chinwe Owoh, and representatives from Elegant Flix magazine UK/Nigeria, among others.
Additionally, retired Cardinal Olubunmi Okojie conveyed his heartfelt regards.
In her heartfelt tribute, Queen Florence Okonkwo eloquently described her mother as a blessing to her children, family, and all who crossed her path, emphasizing the immense void left by her departure.
